Girl Scout Brownies and Orlando Seniors Working Together
Girl Scout Troop Brownie Troop#146 is made up of third graders from the Lake Mary area. Oakmonte Village at Lake Mary employee and Troop-leader Lisa Gahan and Co-leader Mellissa Chapa meet with the troop at Oakmonte Village twice a month.
The girls of this troop are very service oriented and have been working on several projects. The girls collected canned goods for a Thanksgiving Food Drive and made 100 breast cancer awareness Christmas ornaments which will be on display at Sea World.
Currently they are assisting Visiting Angels to collect gift items for seniors in local nursing homes who don’t have any family. This in an inter-generational project involving the Girl Scouts and the Residents of Oakmonte Village. Their home-made holiday cards will accompany 116 gifts to a nursing home in Sanford where the girls will be handing out the gifts on the 19th of December.
