Health & Wellness Day at Senior Living Community a Huge Success!

Oakmonte Village at Lake Mary hosted a Health and Wellness Day event on Friday, January 15, 2010.  The event included presentations about prevention, wellness and health & nurtition.   The presentations ran throughout  the event and started with Kathy Evans from VITAS Innovative Hospice.  Kathy provided a DVD explaining the benefits of hospice care.  Ingrid Swailes owner of Massage and The Natural Face Lift demonstrated the BioMat System and facial rejuvenation techniques.  CrossTraining Fitness & Massage of Lake Mary, a sponsor of the event provided a yoga demonstration and chair massages free of charge.

Dr. Rasa, a hospitalist with Central Florida Regional Hospital, an event sponsor spoke to the group on what they could expect should they be admitted to the hospital.  Most people don’t realize that their personal physicians may not be their primary care physican while they are hospitalized – their care will most likely come from a hospitalist.  Delia Bloise of Nutri-Options spoke on “The New Year, The New You”.  Delia provided tips on how to make healthier food choices in an effort to improve both physical and emotional well being.

Dr. Marco Barusco of Tempus Medical Care provided free skin cancer screenings.  Dr. Barusco’s staff of skin care professionals provided visitors with samples their exclusive line of Brazlian skin care products.   There were many other health and wellness vendors offering advice, information, and free screenings.
